Valerie Silva is the Compliance Officer and Associate Counsel at Amerant Mortgage. Valerie’s responsible areas include Quality Control, Licensing, Internal Audit and all general compliance areas, and she serves as in-house counsel as well. Valerie brings over 10 years of mortgage compliance and legal experience in the following areas: origination and servicing, retail and wholesale, and Forward and Reverse mortgages. Valerie’s dynamic background has made her flexible and adaptable to the changing needs of her operational and sales partners, while maintaining a steady head about risk management and overall protection of company assets and reputation. With a servant leadership mindset and management approach, Valerie believes in the power of the people she works with and is known for supporting the growth and advancement of her team and coworkers. Valerie is always ready to serve, no matter if the problem is big or small, and she believes there is no such thing as a dumb question. Valerie has a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of New Mexico and a Juris Doctor from the University of New Mexico School of Law, where she graduated with Clinical Honors. In her spare time, Valerie enjoys reading, the arts, volunteering in her community, spending time with family and friends, and most especially, time with her dog, Frito.
